I am a senior military, ICT, Information Security and cybersecurity professional with over 30 years of distinguished service in the Sri Lanka Army, primarily within the Corps of Signals. I have held senior command and staff appointments with extensive experience in ICT, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Electronic Warfare (EW), Governance, Risk Management, administration, logistics and organisational leadership. As a Brigadier, I have led multidisciplinary teams and managed complex technical and operational responsibilities in demanding environments. • Commanded 2 Signal Brigade (Force multiplication and Projection) with responsibility for leadership and operational direction of Cybersecurity and Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities. Provided strategic leadership and guidance to ensure the effective employment of technical resources, specialized personnel, and advanced capabilities, thereby enhancing Information Security, strengthening Cyber resilience & EW capabilities and sustaining the operational readiness of the Sri Lanka Army in alignment with national security imperatives.
• As Colonel Coordinating, directed ICT governance and technology-risk oversight, ensuring alignment of security priorities with senior stakeholders and national defence objectives. Provided strategic support for policy development and compliance reporting across critical technology infrastructure functions. Led technical training and security awareness programmes to strengthen workforce capability and embed information security best practice. • Led the Cybersecurity Unit with responsibility for strengthening Cybersecurity capabilities, Information Security, Security Governance and Cyber Risk Management. • Directed and provided senior leadership in the development and operational employment of Cybersecurity and Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities of the Sri Lanka Army. As Commander of the 2 Signal Brigade, delivered strategic oversight to advance specialised technical capabilities, enhance operational preparedness, and build resilience against emerging cyber and electronic threats. Achieved critical national security objectives by integrating advanced EW & Information Security practices with force projection and readiness initiatives.
• Provided senior leadership in organising the inaugural 2 Signal Brigade Cybersecurity & Electronic Warfare Symposium in 2025, held under the theme 'Securing the Digital Frontline' on 12 September 2025. Directed the strategic planning and execution of this landmark event, the first of its kind in the history, promoting professional knowledge sharing, advancing awareness of emerging Cybersecurity and Electronic Warfare challenges, and reinforcing national security priorities through collaborative dialogue and capability development.
• Led the Sri Lanka Army Cybersecurity Unit, providing strategic direction to strengthen organisational resilience against evolving threats. Oversaw the enhancement of information security governance, cyber risk management, and the protection of critical assets and ICT resources. Championed security awareness initiatives and capability development, embedding a culture of vigilance and operational readiness across the organisation.
• Supported and coordinated the conduct of an Advanced Cybersecurity Training Programme delivered by an Indian Army Mobile Training Team from 5 May to 3 June 2025, contributing to professional development and enhancement of cybersecurity knowledge and capabilities.
• Completed over 32 years of distinguished service in the Sri Lanka Army, culminating in promotion to the rank of Brigadier. Held senior command and staff appointments that encompassed technical leadership in cybersecurity, ICT, and electronic warfare, alongside responsibilities in administration, logistics, and organisational management.
